Winona Health is offering free walk-in depression screening Thursday, October 5th. Screenings will be available for adolescents from 1 to 3pm, and for adults from 1 to 4:30pm on the second floor of the Parkview Office Building.
Thursday, October 5th is National Depression Screening Day. One out of every five adults may experience depression at some point in their lives. Depression is treatable.
People who have any of the following symptoms of depression are encouraged to come in for screening:
A persistent feeling of sadness
Loss of pleasure in usually enjoyable activities
A feeling of hopelessness, helplessness and worthlessness
Changes in sleep patterns and appetite
Loss of energy
Thoughts of death or suicide
Those interested may call to reserve a screening time or just walk in. The screening process will take approximately 30 minutes for a brief questionnaire and a meeting with a therapist.
