There is a move at the state capital to remove Minnesota's 1994 ban on construction of new nuclear power plants
Democratic State Senator Steve Murphy of Red Wing is one of those who want to repeal the moratorium because, he says, more nuclear power could hep the state meet renewable energy goals.
Opponents say nuclear energy has too many down sides.
But Murphy also says Minnesota's two nuclear plants have never had a problem, including the one at Prairie Island outside Red Wing, which lies in his own district.
