Winona High Boys Open Up Section Tournament Tonight

The second ranked Winona High boys’ basketball team opens up the Section 1AAA playoffs tonight as the Winhawks host Waseca in a first round matchup. Winona High is 24-1 and they will be the big favorite to get to the state tournament in Section one. The Winhawks are looking to get back to the state tournament for the second straight season and for the third time in the last four years. Waseca is the eighth seed in the section and they come into the game 3-19 with a nine-game losing streak.
Tonight’s game can be heard on AM 1230 KWNO and online at winonaradio.com starting at 6:45. The winner of tonight’s game would face the winner of Faribault and Simley on Saturday night. If Winona High wins tonight, they would play at home once again on Saturday.
Also in Section 1AAA tonight, third seed Austin is hosting Red Wing while second seed New Prague is playing Albert Lea.
