Wabasha City Council members are meeting with city department heads this week to determine how to make up for an anticipated $175,000 budget deficit.
Council members learned that if proposed cuts in local government aid go through the legislature, Wabasha could lose just under $137,000 this year. The Wabasha County Herald reports city employees have suggested taking a weeklong furlough to help make up the deficit. The council is also looking at raising taxes or cutting services. Council members have suggested taking public input before making any final decisions.
