March Foodshare

Winona Volunteer Services continues to look for both food and cash donations as March Foodshare month continues.

Connie Gores, who is a Volunteer Services board member, says the need is great especially since 2009 was a  record year for food shelf usage locally.

Gores also says cash donations area actually better than food donations because thew cash can be stretched farther. She says the local drive can also qualify for cash from the statewide March Foodshare drive along with funds from the Alan Feinstein Program is Rhode Island.

Food and cash donations can be dropped off at Volunteer Services headquarters at 412 East Second during regular business hours. You can also look for the green barrels in supermarkets and churches in which you can drop non-perishable food items.
