Rushford-Peterson Girls Lose To Goodhue in Section Final

The Rushford-Peterson girls’ basketball team fell one game short of the Class 1A state tournament as the Trojans lost to Goodhue in the Section 1A final last night 61-44. The Wildcats shut down Rushford-Peterson’s all-time leading scorer Jade Pelzl and the rest of the Trojans couldn’t pick up the slack. Pelzl was held to a season low four points as she struggled to get open looks against the taller Goodhue defenders. Rushford-Peterson shot just 25 percent from the field while Goodhue shot 59 percent.
Kenzie Lind led Rushford-Peterson with 16 points, which tied her season high. The Trojans wrap up the season 18-11 and one of their three seniors is Pelzl.

In the Section 1AA championship game, fourth ranked Rochester Lourdes blew out sixth ranked Chatfield 58-38 to qualify for the Class AA state tournament.

In the WIAA Division 3 girls’ playoffs Arcadia beat Onalaska Luther 51-32.
