Kohner-School board
The field of candidates for the Winona Area Pubic School Board include nine people who are running as at-large candidates.
Jay Kohner, who is a Cotter and Winona State University graduate, says he decided to run for the school board because he feels that public education should be a priority for parents.
Kohner, who served on the Winona City Council in the 1990's, says he hasn't been happy with the direction the school board has taken the past year or so.
Kohner says he would like to see the district expand pre-school to other school buildings and come up with a plan to increase enrollment.
Kohner has owned his own home remodeling business in Winona for over 15 years.
All nine at-large candidates will be involved in the August 10th primary election where the field will be narrowed to four who advance to the November election. The two winners will be elected to four-year terms.
