Tribute To The Music of John Denver by Layne Yost

The Winona Arts center presents a concert by Layne Yost dedicated to the music of John Denver. Yost’s “Tribute to the Music of John Denver” is a faithful tribute that pays homage to the music and the man. Layne’s got a John Denver voice, all sweet and pure. Yost, accompanied by Jon Shimoda, and Carol McDowall capture the simple soul of Denver’s music through guitar, upright bass and fiddle arrangements.

Cotter Choir-SATB State Honor Choir


Congratulations to Cotter Choir students Colin Cada and Joe Nagel, who was recently accepted into the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA) of Minnesota 9-10 SATB State Honor Choir.  They will sing Tenor 1 in the State Honor Choir. This year’s State 9-10th grade Honor Choir’s guest conductor is Jonathan Talberg, choral director and voice teacher at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at the University of California, Long Beach, California.   Approximately 500 students submitted auditions from schools across Minnesota for 150 available spots in the ACDA 9-10 grade Honor Choirs.  Over 60 different Minnesota schools will be represented. Accepted students have been working on their own and with their respective high school choir directors to prepare and memorize five songs each for an all-day rehearsal on Thursday, February 22,   2018 at Minneapolis, MN.  The day will culminate with a grand finale concert held at the Minneapolis Convention Center Main Auditorium in downtown Minneapolis, MN at 5:30 PM.
