On a beautiful weekend, through sales and donations, a total of $4,842.30 was raised for Ready Set School at the 24th Annual Chili Cookoff, sponsored by Winona National Bank on Saturday, February 10. A large crowd enjoyed 17 varieties of chili donated by: Betty Jo Byoloski’s, Bluff Country Co-op, Bub’s Brewing Company, Ground Round, Jefferson’s Pub & Grill, Kwik Trip Store #746, Riverway Learning Community, Signatures Restaurant, Steak Shop Catering, Sugar Loaf Senior Living, Winona Health Catering, and the Winona Senior High School. Chili was judged by a panel of celebrity judges, and the winners were:
Mild category: 1st place – Steak Shop Catering
2nd place – Winona Health Catering
3rd place – Ground Round
Spicy category: 1st place – Ground Round
2nd place – Sugarloaf Senior Living
3rd place – Steak Shop Catering @ Cotter Schools
Public votes were compiled for the Public Tasters’ Choice Award, which was awarded to Ground Round for its spicy chili. (Pictured)
Cotter-Locks of Compassion
Join us in our Locks of Compassion Lenten project. The Locks of Compassion Initiative, created by Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota, embraces compassion for all. It has helped promote awareness and support for refugee children and families served.
Cotter students, staff and the entire Winona community is encouraged to purchase a padlock, decorate it, and lock it onto the chain link fence located in the Cotter High School building.
