Faces of Winona

Walkabout Winona

Walkabout Winona, a one-of-a-kind local business run by students at Winona State University, will celebrate the grand opening of its tour services by offering a free tour at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20. The 90-minute tour will include many wonderful historic downtown buildings and stories. Interested participants should meet in front of the Somsen Hall stairs, located at the intersection of Johnson and 8th streets, at 8 a.m. Additional tours will be offered at 3 p.m. Walkabout Winona offers affordable historic walking tours of downtown Winona. The business was created by Winonan Bailey Bestul while he was still in high school and taking classes at WSU. Bestul later approached Dr. Hamid Akbari, Dean of the WSU College of Business, with the idea to have WSU students run Walkabout Winona as their own business. Support for the initiative was provided by the WSU Foundation.

Tours will be scheduled throughout the week and for special groups and occasions. For more information or to book your own tour, visit http://academics.winona.edu/walkabout/

We are excited to walk with you!

Halloweenona 2017

The City of Winona, Winona Main Street, and our downtown businesses will take part in the First Annual Halloweenona Celebration with costume fun, trick or treating, and events in the morning and evening! The 2017 Halloweenona will kick off with the ever popular Winona National Bank Trick or Treat Tour from 9am to Noon. But this year there will be Downtown Trick or Treating at a number of shops including Benos (where every kid in costume gets a free kids-meal) and many others. After a morning of trick or treating we invite families with kids 6 and older (and kids of all adult ages) to our first Haunted Masonic Triple Feature. All events are free!
