Council levy


 The Winona City Council Tuesday voted 5 to 2 in favor of increasing property taxes by 4.6-percent in 2011.
          

County Board--Property Tax Levy


The Winona County Board of Commissioners will be asked today to decide on two different options when setting the preliminary property tax levy payable in 2011.

Walz-Demmer Campaign Funds


Democratic First District Congressman Tim Walz has gotten his biggest campaign donation from the Mayo Clinic employee unions as well as agribusiness companies.  The Post-Bulletin of Rochester reports his Republican opponent Randy Demmer has gotten the backing of some some major Minnesota businesses.

Kapanke-Kind Debates


Dan Kapanke, the Republican candidate for Congress in Wisconsin's Third District is challenging Democratic incumbent Ron Kind to 19 debates between now and the November 2nd general election.

City Manager Search


The committee working on the hiring process for a new Winona City Manager will be delivering a list of final prospective candidates to the City Council in early October.

Motor Parts and Equipment Car Show


This past Sunday Aug 5th the 8th annual Motor Parts and Equipment Custom Car Show was held at the Lake Winona Park Bandshell. 106 vehicles were displayed with anything from the 1920s to the present. The show is appreciation of all the Motor Parts customers and gives them an opportunity to show their vehicles. There well be 2 calendars available at the end of the year for purchase at Motor Parts and all the vehicles will be displayed. Many thanks to all of those people who brought one or vehicles to this year's show. Attendance was great and it was a beautiful day for the event.
