The Winona Foundation, which contributes to the cultural, historical, and educational heritage of the Winona community, is now accepting grant applications for 2018. Applications are due March 1 for innovative programs and requests designed to preserve or expand existing organizations. The Foundation is particularly interested this year in hearing from newer Winona-area nonprofits, as well as new or collaborative program ideas from organizations it has developed relationships with. Previous grantees have ranged widely, and have included the Winona County Historical Society, the Winona Dakota Unity Alliance, Winona Arts Center, Theatre du Mississippi, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, the Pickwick Mill, and other organizations. The Foundation has also supported individual projects that advance its mission - most recently, it provided funding for the “John Latsch: The Man and His River” documentary film. Applicants are not required to submit a letter of inquiry or other materials, but are welcome to reach out in advance to the Foundation to gauge interest and fit. Grant awards are generally between $1,000 and $10,000. For more information, application forms, and a full list of previous grantees, please visit winonafoundation.org. Those with direct questions can reach out to Foundation director Scott Hagg at firstname.lastname@example.org.
