(KWNO)-Winona Senior High School math teacher Scott Halverson is the 2023 Winona Education Association Teacher of the Year.  The announcement was made Friday morning. Halverson came to WSHS in 1993 after teaching for four years in Iowa.

“Scott is one of those teachers where you don’t know where to start,” said Dwayne Voegeli, a former WEA Teacher of the Year. “Scott is a teacher’s teacher. He is a leader in so many ways. He has great relationships with his students. He both pushes them and supports them.”

In addition to his classroom duties, Halverson is a W-Club advisor and served on the WAPS Athletic Advisory Committee and WAPS Curriculum Committee. He was also the head coach of the WSHS softball team that won the state championship in 2017.
